Artist CV (pdf)

I have always been an artist in transit, fascinated with the worlds between worlds, the tension between bodies of knowledge and the complexities of taking on a technical practice in the context of actual lived experience. I extend my painting practice into experiments of form and function, using sculpture, installation, performance and digital spheres of creation to add dimension to my painted pieces, including large scale fused glass experiments and monotype printmaking performance. As I am classically trained my work retains reference to the worlds of intensive atelier training and its relevance in today’s era of image ephemera- a process of largely working from life, with a close attention to control. This lies within the lineage of a large body of knowledge inherited from the beaux-art ateliers of the 18-19th in Europe and disseminated today in the growing international movement known as the ‘classical revival’. My work lies on the border of classicism and genuine experimentation, and will always reside in the uneasy space in-between.
