Artist statement
Artist CV (pdf)
I am an artist preferring to use a lacing technique but enjoy including collage, textile stitching, encaustic wax and printing techniques. I work with thread and wire but have also used paper and interesting materials to construct 3-dimensional sculptures. My work reflects the everyday things of my life. Living on a farming property, I am surrounded by the natural environment. Discussions centre around the big questions of climate change, environmental degradation, and financial instability, people and our place in the world; but also, the smaller aspects such as weather unpredictability, animal health, natural versus introduced flora and fauna. The list goes on! Throughout my day-to-day activities, I am inspired by, and drawn to pattern, the tactility of materials, and the energy and vibrancy of colour. I am always striving to convey movement whether it be the landscape or the human form. My time is spent creating, often in collaboration with fellow artists, and sharing my skills with other people.
