Artist CV (pdf)
I am very interested in the history of plant hunters, like Sir Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander. They regarded the flora collected in this country “as if dropped from another planet.” To their English eyes the ancient land they had stumbled upon was as unknown and unperceivable as outer space. I am also inspired by women painters like Ellis Rowan and Marianne North. They bravely ventured as women artists and adventurers, recording in paint the exotic beauty of the flora of Australia, New Guinea and Brazil. Like them I want to paint a new vision of the observed natural world. Waratahs, grevilleas, banksia and bush flowers are the source of much inspiration. They feature in works, often on a large scale and explosive in energetic colour.
